President Donald Trump said on Saturday, September 7th that he had cancelled the scheduled peace talks with Afghanistan's Taliban group leaders on Sunday after the Taliban had announced its role in the latest Kabul attack, which resulted in the death of an American soldier and 11 other civilians.

"If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don't have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway." Trump tweeted

Trump said that he had been planning to hold a secret meeting with Taliban's "major leaders" at the presidential compound in Camp David, Maryland, as well as planning to hold another meeting with the president of Afghanistan.
