US President Donald Trump is set to visit the US-Mexico border on Thursday, a White House spokeswoman said, as talks aimed at ending a government "closure" were in place because of a dispute over a border wall.
"President Donald Trump will go Thursday to the southern border to meet in front lines to defend national security and to address the humanitarian crisis," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.
The spokeswoman did not specify which area Trump would visit.
The announcement of the visit comes at a time when both the White House and Democrats who control the US House of Representatives refuse to compromise in one of the biggest political crisis in the presidency of Trump.
Trump is demanding $5.6 billion to build a border wall to prevent migrants from crossing into his country, which the Democrats dismiss as a political maneuver.
