In a renewal of its commitment to eliminate global terrorism, a United Arab Emirates delegation has taken part in the ministerial conference on the combating of financing terrorism, in Melbourne on Thursday November 7th, attended by ministers and representatives of 60 countries.
The conference, under the slogan, "No Money for Terrorism," provided a close look at the UAE’s significant efforts to dry up resources used for terrorism. The UAE’s head of the delegation, Dr Obaid Al Ketbi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, and International Cooperation for Security and Military Affairs, highlighted that part of the UAE’s efforts to counter terrorism is the active role of the UAE’s Anti-Money Laundering and Suspicious Cases Unit (AMLSCU), at the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, that addresses money laundering, and the financing of terrorism. AMLSCU has signed more than 45 Memoranda of Understanding with its national, regional and international counterparts.
