Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo could miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL rupture during Roma's 2-1 loss at home to Juventus on Sunday January 12th.
The Italian youngster suffered the injury after colliding with Adrien Rabiot and Matthijs De Ligt midway through the first half. He was replaced by Cengiz Under after being stretchered off the pitch in tears.
He is now also expected to miss Euro 2020. AFP reported that Roma released a statement on Monday morning confirming the injury.
"Zaniolo underwent medical assessments that confirmed the rupture of the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his right knee, along with some damage to the meniscus," the statement read.
Zaniolo's injury will be a huge blow to Roma's top-four ambitions as the 20-year-old has been one of the stars of the season. He posted a message on Instagram on Monday morning vowing to come back stronger.
