Thousands gathered in London’s Trafalgar Square this morning before marching to Parliament Square in what organisers were calling the “Carnival of Resistance” against the US President, taking place on Tuesday, June 4th.
Speaking to demonstrators, they had all gathered against Trump for various reasons including his stance on climate change, gender equality, racism and trade negotiations.
Many using words such as “Bigot” “Misogynistic” and “racist” to describe Trump, with one going so far as to compare him to Hitler.
A group of women, who had met via Facebook, dressed up as Handmaidens from the hit book turned TV series “The Handmaids Tale”. Speaking with these women, they said they chose to dress as Handmaidens to show how the text has become a disturbing reality for our times with the comparisons of gender equality, the populist right and the shredding of constitutional norms.
Protesters travelled from all over England to join in the demonstrations.
